“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and
adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek
them with our eyes open.” goes coins one Jawaharial Nehru the first Prime Minister of India and a central figure in Indian politics for much of the 20th century so do I concur with him. Indeed different people travel to places for different reasons, some for leisure, adventure, business, and so on. In Kerio Valley, below what you may have to encounter in case you didn't know.
People travel Kerio valley to watch in fascination and wonder at the height of Elgeiyo escarpment, and have a grand opportunity to stand on top of Tugen Hills a place of a thousand views. I bet if you haven't been to Kerio Valley, you will marvel at the meandering roads and the long courses of river Kerio and its tributaries.
At the
vast compass of Kerio valley floor you will never miss to see whirl
wind sweep dust off the feet of elephants as they tremble to quench
their day-long thirst at Lake Kamnarok in the heart of Kerio Valley. Can you imagine an anthill three times your height? or Houses build on top of trees or on huge stones? You wont' miss to come across that either. Well, for those daring enough not sparing anyone with acrophobia( fear of height) , come dare watch how seasoned para-gliders enjoy performing their thing above and along Elgeiyo Escarpment and, as nature would have it,
sometimes they have been forced to crash-land in dangerous areas, due to unresponsive weather
changes, thank God they seldom get any injuries.
When you want to want to experience amazing mother nature, to discover , to see more than you can remember, to impart new vigor to your mind then Kerio Valley is a place to visit. Enjoy!!

KERIOVALLEY: WHY IT'S A PLACE TO VISIT
Amazing Tourist Attraction In Elgeiyo/Marakwet County - By Mr AKWS Contestant 2013
Some contestants in the Mr and Miss Akale Wouldsay 2013 competition which has entranced more than fifty angelic Kalenjin mistresses and elegant gentlemen will not go unnoticed wihtout acknowlegding the one William Kimutai for his standing out. What impresses me is not only that Kimutai who hails from the same cointy as I am made to top three, but also how he responded to the judges' questions to "describe any amazing tourist attraction in your County".
Below is what he had to say:
The highlands and the escarpments of Elgeiyo Marakwet County offer some of the Kenya’s most awe-inspiring views across the Kerio Valley. The Scenic panoramas around the Kerio Valley are truly stunning especially from the Nyaru Viewpoint. The County is an excellent place to explore including the Rimoi National Reserve and Chebloch gorge.
Since independence, our Country Kenya has majorly relied on Wild-Life Safaris and the beaches at the coast as the destinations for tourists from all over the world. However, in the recent past, the government through the Kenya Tourism Board has shown its commitments towards promoting Sport’s Tourism. Through athletics, Elgeiyo Marakwet County makes Kenya a great Sporting Destination. High Profile international Athletes including the Paula Radcliffe, Mo Farah both of Britain, South Africa’s Ezekiel Sepeng and our own David Lekuta Rudisha have always been training at Iten in full glare of International Media.
The High Altitude of Iten and Kaptagat makes a perfect training ground for Athletes. Furthermore, the escarpments provides an amazing view and heavy winds for paragliding and this has attracted many paragliders from the world including World Champion, Macaus Shouldsman from Germany.
As Adventures In Keriovalley, we are proud of him and therefore take this opportunity to drum support for him to clinch top position in such a eminent pageant. All the best.
